Introduction

Hermes is a 24/7 autonomous agent that lives on your computer or server — it remembers what it learns and evolves as your usage grows.

This guide explains the easiest and most robust way to connect your Memelord account to Hermes. You can do this through either Composio Connect CLI or Composio Connect MCP. For personal use we recommend the CLI, but you won't go wrong with MCP either.

What is Composio Connect?

Composio Connect is a consumer offering that lets anyone plug 1,500+ applications directly into their agent harness — including Hermes. It can:

  • Search and load tools from relevant toolkits on-demand, reducing context usage.
  • Chain multiple tools to accomplish complex workflows via a remote workbench, without excessive back-and-forth with the LLM.
  • Manage app authentication end-to-end with zero manual overhead.

Integrating Memelord with Hermes

Using Composio Connect CLI

1. Install the Composio CLI

Run the install script directly, or paste https://composio.dev/hermes into your Hermes chat box to have it installed for you.

bash
curl -fsSL https://composio.dev/install | bash
Hermes authenticating with Composio

2. Authenticate

Once the CLI is installed, ask Hermes to authenticate with Composio.

3. Connect to Memelord

Ask your agent to connect to Memelord, or simply request any Memelord-related task. Hermes will prompt you to authenticate and authorize access.

4. Done. You're all set with a new Memelord connection.

Using Composio Connect MCP

1. Get your MCP URL and API Key

Go to dashboard.composio.dev and copy your Connect MCP URL and API key.

Copy MCP URL and API key from Composio dashboard

2. Open the Hermes config file

bash
nano ~/.hermes/config.yaml

3. Add the Composio Connect MCP server

bash
mcp_servers:
  composio:
    url: "https://connect.composio.dev/mcp"
    headers:
      x-consumer-api-key: "YOUR_COMPOSIO_API_KEY"
    connect_timeout: 60
    timeout: 180

Save with Ctrl + O, Enter, then exit with Ctrl + X.

4. Restart your Hermes agent

Once restarted, ask your agent to connect to Memelord or request any Memelord-related task. It will prompt you to authenticate and authorize access.

5. Done!

What is the Memelord MCP server, and what's possible with it?

The Memelord MCP server is an implementation of the Model Context Protocol that connects your AI agent and assistants like Claude, Cursor, etc directly to your Memelord account. It provides structured and secure access to meme templates, image and video generation tools, media uploads, video jobs, and Jester, so your agent can search templates, create memes, edit existing memes, upload media, and track video work on your behalf.

  • Meme template discovery: Have your agent search meme, video, and sticker templates, find trending formats, and retrieve template details before creating content.
  • Image meme creation and editing: Instruct your agent to generate caption memes or AI-remixed image memes, then change the text on image memes you have already created.
  • Video meme generation: Let the agent create AI-captioned video memes from a topic, check video job status, and list recent video jobs with their current status and available video links.
  • Media uploads and creative tools: Direct your agent to upload your own photos or videos, use them as references for meme creation, and run available image, video, and character-transpose tools.
  • Jester-powered meme assistance: Have your agent send a natural-language request to Jester for meme work, while checking your Memelord account details, usage balance, and access to billable tools.

Way Forward

With Memelord connected, Hermes can now act on your behalf whenever it detects a relevant task or you ask it to.

From here, you can extend Hermes further:

  • Connect more apps: Calendar, Slack, Notion, Linear, and hundreds of others are available through the same Composio Connect setup. Each new integration compounds what Hermes can do for you.
  • Build workflows across tools: Once multiple apps are connected, Hermes can chain actions together — turn an email into a calendar invite, a Slack message into a Linear ticket, or a meeting note into a follow-up draft.
  • Let it learn your patterns: The more you use Hermes, the better it gets at anticipating how you'd handle recurring tasks. Give it feedback on drafts and decisions, and it will adapt.

TOOLS

Supported Tools

Every Memelord MCP action and event your agent gets out of the box.

Check video status

Check one video job from any video-producing tool.

Create media upload url

Start a direct upload for a file too large to send inline (over 3 MB), typically a video.

Edit meme

Change the text of an image meme you already generated.

Edit video meme

Rewrite the caption of a video meme and re-render it.

Generate ai meme

AI-remixed image memes: Jester picks a meme template (or uses template_id), AI-edits the picture itself to fit the joke — swapping subjects, adding objects, or painting in people and products from reference_image_urls — then captions it.

Generate caption meme

Classic caption memes: Jester picks a real meme template from the library (or uses template_id), writes new text for its caption slots, and renders that text on the unchanged template image.

Generate video meme

Generate AI-captioned video memes from a topic.

Get account

Return the authenticated Memelord account: user id, display name, email, usage balance (USD, rounded to cents), whether billable tools can run, where to add credits, and how this MCP session is authenticated (OAuth or API key).

Get meme template

Fetch one template asset by id: name, type (meme | video | sticker), media URL, description, tags, dimensions, and how many text slots its layout has.

Get trending memes

What's trending right now: the most recent curated trending templates with a short cultural-context blurb explaining the format.

List image tools

Catalog of one-shot image tools you can run with run_image_tool: celebrity face swaps (Trump, Elon, Zuck, Vance, …), filters (Bust Down, Wojakify, GigaChad, Looksmaxxing, mugshot, Windows 95), and text-to-image generators (mascots, logos, Pokémon-style cards).

List video jobs

List your recent video jobs from every video tool, newest first, with status and MP4 URLs.

List video models

List the pro AI video models this account can run — Kling 3.

Run agent

Hand a natural-language request to Jester, Memelord's full meme agent — the same brain behind the Memelord chat.

Run genjutsu

Genjutsu character transpose: put a person or character into an existing video clip while keeping its motion, choreography, camera, timing, and audio ("put me in this music video", "swap the dancer for my character").

Run image tool

Run one specific image tool from list_image_tools by tool_id — e.

Run video model

Generate new AI video footage with one model from list_video_models: from a prompt alone, a start frame (image_url, optional end_image_url), or reference images / clips / audio.

Search memes

Search Memelord's template library of memes, video clips, and stickers.

Upload media

Upload the user's own photo or video into their Memelord Uploads and get back an https url to pass to generate_ai_meme reference_image_urls, run_image_tool image_url, run_agent image_urls, run_genjutsu character_image_urls / video_url, or run_video_model image and reference fields.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

With a standalone Memelord MCP server, the agents and LLMs can only access a fixed set of Memelord tools tied to that server. However, with the Composio Tool Router, agents can dynamically load tools from Memelord and many other apps based on the task at hand, all through a single MCP endpoint.

Yes, you can. Hermes fully supports MCP integration. You get structured tool calling, message history handling, and model orchestration while Tool Router takes care of discovering and serving the right Memelord tools.

Yes, absolutely. You can configure which Memelord scopes and actions are allowed when connecting your account to Composio. You can also bring your own OAuth credentials or API configuration so you keep full control over what the agent can do.

All sensitive data such as tokens, keys, and configuration is fully encrypted at rest and in transit. Composio is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant and follows strict security practices so your Memelord data and credentials are handled as safely as possible.
