Introduction

Hermes is a 24/7 autonomous agent that lives on your computer or server — it remembers what it learns and evolves as your usage grows.

This guide explains the easiest and most robust way to connect your Clueso account to Hermes. You can do this through either Composio Connect CLI or Composio Connect MCP. For personal use we recommend the CLI, but you won't go wrong with MCP either.

What is Composio Connect?

Composio Connect is a consumer offering that lets anyone plug 1,500+ applications directly into their agent harness — including Hermes. It can:

  • Search and load tools from relevant toolkits on-demand, reducing context usage.
  • Chain multiple tools to accomplish complex workflows via a remote workbench, without excessive back-and-forth with the LLM.
  • Manage app authentication end-to-end with zero manual overhead.

Integrating Clueso with Hermes

Using Composio Connect CLI

1. Install the Composio CLI

Run the install script directly, or paste https://composio.dev/hermes into your Hermes chat box to have it installed for you.

bash
curl -fsSL https://composio.dev/install | bash
Hermes authenticating with Composio

2. Authenticate

Once the CLI is installed, ask Hermes to authenticate with Composio.

3. Connect to Clueso

Ask your agent to connect to Clueso, or simply request any Clueso-related task. Hermes will prompt you to authenticate and authorize access.

4. Done. You're all set with a new Clueso connection.

Using Composio Connect MCP

1. Get your MCP URL and API Key

Go to dashboard.composio.dev and copy your Connect MCP URL and API key.

Copy MCP URL and API key from Composio dashboard

2. Open the Hermes config file

bash
nano ~/.hermes/config.yaml

3. Add the Composio Connect MCP server

bash
mcp_servers:
  composio:
    url: "https://connect.composio.dev/mcp"
    headers:
      x-consumer-api-key: "YOUR_COMPOSIO_API_KEY"
    connect_timeout: 60
    timeout: 180

Save with Ctrl + O, Enter, then exit with Ctrl + X.

4. Restart your Hermes agent

Once restarted, ask your agent to connect to Clueso or request any Clueso-related task. It will prompt you to authenticate and authorize access.

5. Done!

What is the Clueso MCP server, and what's possible with it?

The Clueso MCP server is an implementation of the Model Context Protocol that connects your AI agent and assistants like Claude, Cursor, etc directly to your Clueso account. It provides structured and secure access to Clueso projects, product videos, documentation articles, clips, audio, voiceovers, captions, animations, and exports, so your agent can create, edit, organize, and publish video and documentation content on your behalf.

  • Project and clip creation: Have your agent create Clueso projects, add or duplicate clips, record product screens, and organize work into folders.
  • Video and audio editing: Let the agent add elements, images, GIFs, music, sound effects, voiceovers, animations, transitions, and sync points to your clips.
  • Captions and documentation: Direct your agent to edit captions and translations, retrieve article content as Markdown, and add screenshots or GIFs to documentation articles.
  • Brand and review management: Instruct your agent to manage brand kits, update pronunciation settings, add project comments, and read review feedback.
  • Exports and sharing: Have your agent start video exports, check export status and links, and retrieve embeddable players for completed projects.

Way Forward

With Clueso connected, Hermes can now act on your behalf whenever it detects a relevant task or you ask it to.

From here, you can extend Hermes further:

  • Connect more apps: Calendar, Slack, Notion, Linear, and hundreds of others are available through the same Composio Connect setup. Each new integration compounds what Hermes can do for you.
  • Build workflows across tools: Once multiple apps are connected, Hermes can chain actions together — turn an email into a calendar invite, a Slack message into a Linear ticket, or a meeting note into a follow-up draft.
  • Let it learn your patterns: The more you use Hermes, the better it gets at anticipating how you'd handle recurring tasks. Give it feedback on drafts and decisions, and it will adapt.

If you run into trouble or want to share what you've built, join the community or check out the Docs for deeper configuration options.

TOOLS

Supported Tools

Every Clueso MCP action and event your agent gets out of the box.

Add article media

Add a screenshot or GIF to the article.

Add audio

Add a music track or sound effect that plays as a project-level audio layer over all clips.

Add clips

Create new clips on a project.

Add comment

Post a review comment on a project, attributed to "Clueso AI".

Add elements

Add many elements across one or more clips in a single tool call.

Add sync point

Insert one sync marker on a clip's transcript.

Analyze audio

Analyze an audio file.

Auto sync

Run the agentic auto-sync pipeline on a clip with a source recording: detects natural sync points (UI changes, narrated steps) and inserts sync-marker nodes into its transcript.

Captions

Read and edit a clip's CAPTIONS (subtitles) — what they say, where one caption ends and the next begins, when each shows, captions not tied to the voiceover, and translation.

Check uploads

Fetch all files the user uploaded via the hosted upload page.

Create clueprint

Create a new clueprint (reusable video template).

Create folder

Create a folder in the workspace, optionally inside another folder, to organize projects.

Create project

Create a new blank Clueso project.

Duplicate clip

Clone one clip — within the same project, or **from another project** — into a target project.

Duplicate project

Clone an entire project — every clip, voiceover, asset, and metadata field — into a fresh project.

Edit animation

Change an animation's code: ONE revision, checked and probed in a sandbox.

Export project

Start a video export of the project.

Extract audio

The editor's "Extract Audio": a clip's own audio — the recording's sound on a video clip, or its generated voiceover — becomes a separate audio track (returns music_id), and the clip goes silent.

Find

Find any resource in Clueso by type, optionally filtered by name or exact id.

Generate media

Generate an AI image or a canvas-code-based animation directly into a clip.

Get article

Get the article content as markdown.

Get clip

Read one clip: its elements (positions/sizes in canvas pixels), voiceover (text, voice, duration, voiceover_volume), background and transition.

Get clueprint

Fetch clueprint data.

Get comments

Read the review comments on a project — the other half of `add_comment`, which could post but never read.

Get design guide

Clueso's design guide, animation guide and animation stdlib.

Get element schema

Return the schema for an element type's type_data, as TypeScript declarations.

Get embed

Get a project's embeddable video player: `embed_url` (permanent) and `embed_code` (a ready-to-paste , the same snippet the editor's Share → Embed copies).

Get export

Read a project's video export: its status and, once done, its link.

Get project

Get a summary of a project: canvas dimensions, per-clip summary (ids, indices, durations, element counts, voiceover_volume), and `audio_tracks` — every music/SFX entry on the project flattened to the same wire shape `add_audio` accepts (id, src, name, source_duration, guide_start_time/end_time, music_start_time/end_time, volume, loop, fade_in, fade_out).

Get recording activity

Status of this workspace's auto-recordings, and how many recording generations this billing cycle has used.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

With a standalone Clueso MCP server, the agents and LLMs can only access a fixed set of Clueso tools tied to that server. However, with the Composio Tool Router, agents can dynamically load tools from Clueso and many other apps based on the task at hand, all through a single MCP endpoint.

Yes, you can. Hermes fully supports MCP integration. You get structured tool calling, message history handling, and model orchestration while Tool Router takes care of discovering and serving the right Clueso tools.

Yes, absolutely. You can configure which Clueso scopes and actions are allowed when connecting your account to Composio. You can also bring your own OAuth credentials or API configuration so you keep full control over what the agent can do.

All sensitive data such as tokens, keys, and configuration is fully encrypted at rest and in transit. Composio is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant and follows strict security practices so your Clueso data and credentials are handled as safely as possible.
