What is Claude Cowork?

Claude Cowork is Anthropic's agent for general knowledge work. It can use your computer, files, and connected applications to complete longer-running tasks across your work tools.

With Composio Connect, Cowork can securely access apps like Weathermap through MCP without you sharing account credentials directly with the agent.

What is the Weathermap MCP server, and what's possible with it?

The Weathermap MCP server is an implementation of the Model Context Protocol that connects your AI agent and assistants like Claude, Cursor, etc directly to visual weather data and forecasts. It provides structured and secure access to real-time and forecasted weather information, so your agent can perform actions like retrieving current conditions, visualizing climate trends, tracking severe weather, and generating weather maps on your behalf.

  • Current weather lookups: Instantly ask your agent to fetch up-to-date weather conditions for any city or geographic location worldwide.
  • Forecast generation: Let your agent provide detailed weather forecasts—hourly, daily, or multi-day—for planning ahead or staying informed.
  • Severe weather tracking: Enable your agent to monitor and alert you about severe weather patterns, storms, or climate warnings in specific areas.
  • Visual weather mapping: Have your agent generate and display visual weather maps, including precipitation, temperature, and wind overlays for better situational awareness.
  • Climate data queries: Request climate trends and patterns for custom regions to support research, reporting, or travel planning.

FAQ

What are the differences in Tool Router MCP and Weathermap MCP?

With a standalone Weathermap MCP server, the agents and LLMs can only access a fixed set of Weathermap tools tied to that server. However, with the Composio Tool Router, agents can dynamically load tools from Weathermap and many other apps based on the task at hand, all through a single MCP endpoint.

Can I use Tool Router MCP with Claude Cowork?

Yes, you can. Claude Cowork fully supports MCP integration. You get structured tool calling, message history handling, and model orchestration while Tool Router takes care of discovering and serving the right Weathermap tools.

Can I manage the permissions and scopes for Weathermap while using Tool Router?

Yes, absolutely. You can configure which Weathermap scopes and actions are allowed when connecting your account to Composio. You can also bring your own OAuth credentials or API configuration so you keep full control over what the agent can do.

How safe is my data with Composio Tool Router?

All sensitive data such as tokens, keys, and configuration is fully encrypted at rest and in transit. Composio is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant and follows strict security practices so your Weathermap data and credentials are handled as safely as possible.
