About Extra Thursday
Email at the speed of thought—that’s the promise of Extra Thursday, a voice-powered email manager that makes inbox management as fast as speaking your thoughts. Through its intuitive voice interface, users can communicate their thoughts, and Thursday instantly triages their inbox, drafts replies, and follows up on essential leads in seconds.
The Problem
To Ryan Yu, the solo founder of Extra Thursday, speed was everything. With a waitlist of thousands, the mission was clear: ship a high-quality product faster than any incumbent could imagine. The core of the app relied on the voice agent’s seamless integration with Gmail and Google Calendar, but this presented a direct challenge to the mission because building these agent integrations, especially handling the complexities of authentication, is a time-consuming task. It meant diverting precious time away from building core AI and product experience. For a solo founder, this was a threat to the project.
The danger was clear:
Get bogged down for weeks building and maintaining brittle auth flows, kill all development momentum, and risk dying before ever launching;
or find a solution that could keep pace with a one-person, high-velocity team.
As a solo builder, shipping fast is life or death. The only way I can outcompete incumbents is by outmanoeuvring them. Getting bogged down in the complexities of managing agent auth would have been a death sentence for Extra Thursday.
— Ryan Yu, Founder, Extra Thursday
After evaluating his options, Ryan settled on three non-negotiables the solution needed to have:
Fully managed OAuth2 included with agent tooling, eliminating the need to roll his own auth.
Plug-and-play functionality that works immediately, without the need for weeks of integration time.
Startup-friendly pricing that wouldn’t penalise lean, fast-moving builders.
The Solution
Composio was the only option that met all three criteria; it was the purpose-built solution for Ryan’s exact problem.
After reviewing the documentation, the core Gmail integration was implemented, and a live prototype was running within 30 minutes. The subsequent Google Calendar integration was even faster. Composio managed the entire OAuth flow, connection management, and token refreshes right out of the box.
This incredible speed meant that instead of implementing agent auth and tools, Ryan could focus entirely on what mattered most to him: building the best possible voice-powered email AI.
Implementing the Gmail integration took less than a day. It just worked. Composio handled all the auth complexity, which freed me up to focus 100% on the core AI and user experience, ensuring I could launch even earlier than expected.

The Outcome
By leveraging Composio, Extra Thursday transformed a multi-week roadblock into a single-day task. The impact on the startup was immediate and significant.
Accelerated Development: The entire application went from a waitlist to a production-ready app, shipped by a single founder, in less than a month.
Saved Hundreds of Engineering Hours: Weeks of development time and maintenance for API connections and auth management were eliminated.
Delivered Early for a Waitlist of Thousands: The accelerated timeline allowed Extra Thursday to launch early to users, capturing critical early momentum.
Looking Forward
With Composio as a core part of the stack, Extra Thursday was able to reduce its time-to-market significantly. What used to be a multi-week project to add new agent capabilities is now a same-day task. With Composio, Ryan can focus on scaling Extra Thursday and deliver the best email experience to its users.
