## Introduction

Atomic Agent is an open-source AI agent that runs on your machine and supports local models through llama.cpp. Connect it to 1,500+ apps through Composio, including QuickNode.
This guide uses Atomic Agent's built-in Composio integration. You need Atomic Agent v0.5.6 or later, your own Composio API key, and a QuickNode account. See the [Atomic Agent documentation](https://atomicagent.io/docs/?cta_placement=atomic-agent-docs) for installation instructions.

## Also integrate QuickNode MCP with

- [ChatGPT](https://composio.dev/toolkits/quicknode_mcp/framework/chatgpt)
- [Claude Cowork](https://composio.dev/toolkits/quicknode_mcp/framework/claude-cowork)
- [Hermes](https://composio.dev/toolkits/quicknode_mcp/framework/hermes-agent)

## TL;DR

### How Atomic Agent connects to QuickNode
Atomic Agent connects to Composio's Tool Router over Streamable HTTP MCP. It discovers the tools needed for your request, and Composio handles account authentication.
Execution and account-connection tools follow Atomic Agent's configured approval policy. Review any approval prompt before allowing an action on your connected account.

## Connect QuickNode MCP to Atomic Agent

### Connect QuickNode to Atomic Agent
- Sign up or sign in to the [Composio dashboard](https://dashboard.composio.dev/?cta_placement=atomic-agent-api-key). Copy your API key.
- In Atomic Agent, open the Integrations tab and select Composio. Select API key, press e, paste the key, and press Enter. The tools become available immediately, without a restart.
- Ask Atomic Agent to do something in QuickNode. It searches Composio for the right tool.
- On first use, open the sign-in link returned in the chat. Connect your QuickNode account, then return to Atomic Agent to continue.
### Headless setup
Add the following line to ~/.atomic-agent/.env, replacing YOUR_COMPOSIO_API_KEY with your key. Start Atomic Agent after saving the file.

```bash
COMPOSIO_API_KEY=YOUR_COMPOSIO_API_KEY
```

## What is the QuickNode MCP server, and what's possible with it?

The QuickNode MCP server is an implementation of the Model Context Protocol that connects your AI agent and assistants like Claude, Cursor, etc directly to your QuickNode account. It provides structured and secure access so your agent can perform QuickNode operations on your behalf.

## Supported Tools

| Tool slug | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_CALL_RPC` | Call-rpc | Call an allowed read-only JSON-RPC method through authenticated Quicknode Tooling Access. Use the network slug from list-chains; call list-chains first if it is unknown. |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_CREATE_ENDPOINT` | Create-endpoint | Create a new web3 RPC endpoint for a given chain and network under user's Quicknode account. This can error if the chain and network combination is not supported or if the user has reached their endpoint limit, in which case the user should try a different chain and network combination (can request list-chains tool for information on supported chains) or delete an existing endpoint |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_CREATE_ENDPOINT_METHOD_RATE_LIMIT` | Create-endpoint-method-rate-limit | Create a new method-specific rate limiter for a Quicknode endpoint |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_CREATE_SECURITY_RULE` | Create-security-rule | Create a security rule for a Quicknode endpoint. Supports types: ip, jwt, referrer, domain_mask, token. Provide the type-specific fields alongside the type parameter. |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_DELETE_ENDPOINT` | Delete-endpoint | Archive a Quicknode endpoint by its ID. This will archive the endpoint and make it inactive. THIS IS A DESTRUCTIVE ACTION |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_DELETE_ENDPOINT_METHOD_RATE_LIMIT` | Delete-endpoint-method-rate-limit | Delete a method-specific rate limit from a Quicknode endpoint. THIS IS A DESTRUCTIVE ACTION |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_DELETE_SECURITY_RULE` | Delete-security-rule | Delete a security rule from a Quicknode endpoint. THIS IS A DESTRUCTIVE ACTION. Use the list-endpoint-security tool first to find the rule type and rule_id. |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_DISABLE_TOOLING_ACCESS` | Disable-tooling-access | Disable account-level Quicknode Tooling Access. |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_ENABLE_TOOLING_ACCESS` | Enable-tooling-access | Enable account-level Quicknode Tooling Access. This provisions an account-level shared RPC endpoint for use by Quicknode developer tools and caches its short-lived access credential. |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_GET_BILLING` | Get-billing | Get billing data for the user's Quicknode account. Use type to get invoices or payments. |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_GET_ENDPOINT` | Get-endpoint | Get a specific web3 Quicknode endpoint details by id |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_GET_ENDPOINT_LOG_DETAILS` | Get-endpoint-log-details | Get detailed request and response information for a specific log entry. This provides the raw request payload and full response that were logged for a particular request |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_GET_ENDPOINT_METRICS` | Get-endpoint-metrics | Get metrics for a specific Quicknode endpoint. Supports various metrics like method calls, response status, and response times over different time periods |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_GET_RPC_USAGE` | Get-rpc-usage | Get the usage data for the user's Quicknode RPC account. Use breakdown_by to get usage by endpoint, method, or chain. The start_time and end_time parameters are ISO 8601 date strings. |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_LIST_CHAINS` | List-chains | List all chains and network slugs supported by Quicknode. |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_LIST_ENDPOINT_LOGS` | List-endpoint-logs | List the request/response logs for a specific Quicknode endpoint |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_LIST_ENDPOINT_METHOD_RATE_LIMITS` | List-endpoint-method-rate-limits | List all method rate limits for a specific Quicknode endpoint |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_LIST_ENDPOINTS` | List-endpoints | Get web3 Quicknode endpoints for the user, this is a list of all the endpoints that the user has created across all chains and networks. Supports pagination via limit and offset parameters |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_LIST_ENDPOINT_SECURITY` | List-endpoint-security | List all security options and rules for a Quicknode endpoint. Shows which security features are enabled/disabled and all configured rules (ip, jwt, referrer, domain_mask, token) with their rule IDs. |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_UPDATE_ENDPOINT_METHOD_RATE_LIMIT` | Update-endpoint-method-rate-limit | Update an existing method-specific rate limit for a Quicknode endpoint |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_UPDATE_ENDPOINT_RATE_LIMITS` | Update-endpoint-rate-limits | Update the general rate limits (RPS, RPM, RPD) for a Quicknode endpoint. Pass a positive integer to set a user override for that bucket, or pass -1 to remove an existing user override and fall back to the plan default; -1 on a bucket that has no override is a no-op and is reported in the `skipped` array. Each plan has a maximum rate limit per bucket; if you request a value above that maximum, the request still succeeds but the plan's maximum is applied for that bucket (e.g. setting rps=1000 on a plan with a 500 rps ceiling results in 500 rps enforced). Available to Build plans and higher (Discover/Free are read-only here). Returns a `before` and `after` snapshot of the enforced rate-limit rows so the caller can see what changed. |
| `QUICKNODE_MCP_UPDATE_ENDPOINT_SECURITY_OPTIONS` | Update-endpoint-security-options | Update security options for a specific Quicknode endpoint |

## Troubleshooting

### Why is my API key rejected?

Copy the key directly from the Composio dashboard. Atomic Agent requires ASCII characters because it sends the key in an HTTP header. Remove any extra characters introduced when copying.

### Why are Composio tools unavailable after saving a key?

Check that you use Atomic Agent v0.5.6 or later and that Composio is enabled in your configuration. A "composio": { "enabled": false } setting disables the integration while keeping the saved key on disk.

### Does Composio have a free plan?

The Hobby plan includes 100,000 tool calls per month. Composio-managed OAuth apps have a lower included allowance. See [Composio pricing](/pricing) for the current limits that apply to your connection.

## Complete Code

## Conclusion

### Use QuickNode from Atomic Agent
With your account connected, ask Atomic Agent to work with QuickNode in natural language. You can connect more apps through the same Composio integration as you need them.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### What are the differences in Tool Router MCP and QuickNode MCP?

With a standalone QuickNode MCP server, the agents and LLMs can only access a fixed set of QuickNode tools tied to that server. However, with the Composio Tool Router, agents can dynamically load tools from QuickNode and many other apps based on the task at hand, all through a single MCP endpoint.

### Can I use Tool Router MCP with Atomic Agent?

Yes, you can. Atomic Agent fully supports MCP integration. You get structured tool calling, message history handling, and model orchestration while Tool Router takes care of discovering and serving the right QuickNode tools.

### Can I manage the permissions and scopes for QuickNode while using Tool Router?

Yes, absolutely. You can configure which QuickNode scopes and actions are allowed when connecting your account to Composio. You can also bring your own OAuth credentials or API configuration so you keep full control over what the agent can do.

### How safe is my data with Composio Tool Router?

All sensitive data such as tokens, keys, and configuration is fully encrypted at rest and in transit. Composio is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant and follows strict security practices so your QuickNode data and credentials are handled as safely as possible.
