## Introduction

Atomic Agent is an open-source AI agent that runs on your machine and supports local models through llama.cpp. Connect it to 1,500+ apps through Composio, including Explorium.
This guide uses Atomic Agent's built-in Composio integration. You need Atomic Agent v0.5.6 or later, your own Composio API key, and a Explorium account. See the [Atomic Agent documentation](https://atomicagent.io/docs/?cta_placement=atomic-agent-docs) for installation instructions.

## Also integrate Explorium MCP with

- [ChatGPT](https://composio.dev/toolkits/explorium_mcp/framework/chatgpt)
- [Claude Cowork](https://composio.dev/toolkits/explorium_mcp/framework/claude-cowork)
- [Hermes](https://composio.dev/toolkits/explorium_mcp/framework/hermes-agent)

## TL;DR

### How Atomic Agent connects to Explorium
Atomic Agent connects to Composio's Tool Router over Streamable HTTP MCP. It discovers the tools needed for your request, and Composio handles account authentication.
Execution and account-connection tools follow Atomic Agent's configured approval policy. Review any approval prompt before allowing an action on your connected account.

## Connect Explorium MCP to Atomic Agent

### Connect Explorium to Atomic Agent
- Sign up or sign in to the [Composio dashboard](https://dashboard.composio.dev/?cta_placement=atomic-agent-api-key). Copy your API key.
- In Atomic Agent, open the Integrations tab and select Composio. Select API key, press e, paste the key, and press Enter. The tools become available immediately, without a restart.
- Ask Atomic Agent to do something in Explorium. It searches Composio for the right tool.
- On first use, open the sign-in link returned in the chat. Connect your Explorium account, then return to Atomic Agent to continue.
### Headless setup
Add the following line to ~/.atomic-agent/.env, replacing YOUR_COMPOSIO_API_KEY with your key. Start Atomic Agent after saving the file.

```bash
COMPOSIO_API_KEY=YOUR_COMPOSIO_API_KEY
```

## What is the Explorium MCP server, and what's possible with it?

The Explorium MCP server is an implementation of the Model Context Protocol that connects your AI agent and assistants like Claude, Cursor, etc directly to your Explorium account. It provides structured and secure access so your agent can perform Explorium operations on your behalf.

## Supported Tools

| Tool slug | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `EXPLORIUM_MCP_AUTOCOMPLETE` | Autocomplete | Provides standardized parameter values that MUST be used in fetch-entities filter operations and bombora-intent enrichment. This tool should be called FIRST before searches or enrichments that require these specific field values. **Query rules (critical):** - Pass exactly one concept per call: a single word or short phrase (≤100 characters). - Never pack comma-separated or space-joined lists (e.g. "defense, aviation, medical devices") into one query — that fails. - For multiple concepts, call autocomplete once per concept and merge the returned values. **Supported Fields (call this tool to get valid values):** - `naics_category`: NAICS industry codes - `linkedin_category`: LinkedIn industry categories - `company_tech_stack_tech`: Specific technologies - `job_title`: Job titles - `interests`: Professional interests for prospect filters - `skills`: Professional skills for prospect filters - `business_intent_topics`: Bombora intent taxonomy strings for fetch filters and enrich-business bombora-intent parameters.topics (prefer ≥12 topics) **Fields NOT Requiring Autocomplete:** These fields have fixed enum values or use standard codes directly: - `country_code`: Use ISO Alpha-2 codes (e.g., "US", "IL") - `company_country_code`: Use ISO Alpha-2 codes (e.g., "US", "IL") - `region_country_code`: Use ISO 3166-2 codes (e.g., "US-NY", "IL-TA") - `company_region_country_code`: Use ISO 3166-2 codes (e.g., "US-NY", "IL-TA") - `website_keywords`: Use free-text keywords directly - Enum fields: See available values in fetch-entities description **Technical Requirement:** Search operations using autocomplete-required filters will fail without valid values from this tool first. **Search Tips:** - For SaaS companies: Use the keyword 'software' **Returns:** List of valid, standardized values that must be used in search filter parameters |
| `EXPLORIUM_MCP_ENRICH_BUSINESS` | Enrich-business | Enriches business data enrichment calls. Requires business IDs as input. **Input Requirements:** - business_ids: Array of Explorium business IDs (from match-business or fetch-businesses) - enrichments: enrichment types to retrieve - parameters: Optional settings for specific enrichments **IMPORTANT: For comprehensive company information requests, include ALL relevant enrichments in a single call** (e.g., for "tell me about this company" use multiple enrichments: firmographics, technographics, funding-and-acquisitions, workforce-trends, linkedin-posts to provide complete intelligence) **Available Enrichments:** - **firmographics**: Basic company info (name, description, website, location, industry, size, revenue) - **technographics**: Complete technology stack used by the business - **company-ratings**: Employee satisfaction and company culture ratings - **financial-metrics**: Financial data for public companies only (requires date parameter in ISO format: "2024-01-01T00:00") - **funding-and-acquisitions**: Funding history, investors, IPO, acquisitions - **challenges**: Business challenges and risks from SEC filings - **competitive-landscape**: Market position and competitors from SEC filings - **strategic-insights**: Strategic focus and value propositions from SEC filings - **workforce-trends**: Department composition and hiring trends - **linkedin-posts**: Company LinkedIn posts and engagement metrics - **website-changes**: Website content changes over time - **website-keywords**: Search for specific keywords on company websites (requires keywords parameter: array of terms - comma-separated terms within strings enable AND logic) - **webstack**: Website-specific technologies and web infrastructure components detected on company websites - **company-hierarchies**: Corporate hierarchy including parent company, ultimate parent, subsidiaries, and full organization tree (JSON format) - **bombora-intent**: Company-level buying intent from Bombora weekly data (surging research topics). Always call autocomplete first with field=business_intent_topics to resolve topics. Prefer ≥12 topics for meaningful level_of_intent. Returns intent_topics (score ≥ threshold), level_of_intent, topic_count, date_stamp. Interpret level_of_intent: In-Depth Research (>25% topics surging), Active Research (5–25%), Early Research ( 60 for bombora-intent (default 60 when omitted) **Alternative Tools:** - For finding specific employees or company leadership information, use fetch-prospects with job_level filters (e.g., "c-suite" for c-level) instead of firmographics or strategic-insights enrichments **Returns:** Combined structured data from all requested enrichments **Example:** ``` { "business_ids": ["8adce3ca1cef0c986b22310e369a0793", "340c8040bd50cbab9c7df718bbe51cc9"], "enrichments": ["firmographics", "technographics", "funding-and-acquisitions"], "parameters": null } ``` |

## Troubleshooting

### Why is my API key rejected?

Copy the key directly from the Composio dashboard. Atomic Agent requires ASCII characters because it sends the key in an HTTP header. Remove any extra characters introduced when copying.

### Why are Composio tools unavailable after saving a key?

Check that you use Atomic Agent v0.5.6 or later and that Composio is enabled in your configuration. A "composio": { "enabled": false } setting disables the integration while keeping the saved key on disk.

### Does Composio have a free plan?

The Hobby plan includes 100,000 tool calls per month. Composio-managed OAuth apps have a lower included allowance. See [Composio pricing](/pricing) for the current limits that apply to your connection.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### What are the differences in Tool Router MCP and Explorium MCP?

With a standalone Explorium MCP server, the agents and LLMs can only access a fixed set of Explorium tools tied to that server. However, with the Composio Tool Router, agents can dynamically load tools from Explorium and many other apps based on the task at hand, all through a single MCP endpoint.

### Can I use Tool Router MCP with Atomic Agent?

Yes, you can. Atomic Agent fully supports MCP integration. You get structured tool calling, message history handling, and model orchestration while Tool Router takes care of discovering and serving the right Explorium tools.

### Can I manage the permissions and scopes for Explorium while using Tool Router?

Yes, absolutely. You can configure which Explorium scopes and actions are allowed when connecting your account to Composio. You can also bring your own OAuth credentials or API configuration so you keep full control over what the agent can do.

### How safe is my data with Composio Tool Router?

All sensitive data such as tokens, keys, and configuration is fully encrypted at rest and in transit. Composio is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant and follows strict security practices so your Explorium data and credentials are handled as safely as possible.
