## Introduction

### How to connect AnyAPI MCP with ChatGPT
[ChatGPT](https://chatgpt.com/) can take action across your apps and files, stay with a project for hours, and turn a goal into finished materials like sheets, slides, and docs, not just answers.
In this guide, I will explain the easiest and most secure way to connect your AnyAPI account to ChatGPT via Composio Connect, so it can validate data, convert currencies, check holidays, generate documents, and retrieve web data through natural language commands without ever putting your account credentials at risk.

## Also integrate AnyAPI with

- [Claude Cowork](https://composio.dev/toolkits/anyapi/framework/claude-cowork)
- [Hermes](https://composio.dev/toolkits/anyapi/framework/hermes-agent)
- [Atomic Agent](https://composio.dev/toolkits/anyapi/framework/atomic-agent)

## TL;DR

### Why use Composio over default connectors?
- Apps with read and write access. Default connectors mostly can read your data. Composio's AnyAPI integration lets ChatGPT take actions like creating drafts, sending updates, labeling records, and more.
- 1,500+ SaaS toolkits out of the box. Composio gives you instant access to a vast catalog of pre-built connectors, from Gmail and Slack to Notion, Linear, and Salesforce.
- One MCP server for every app. Connect any of your applications on demand through a single endpoint, rather than juggling a separate server for each app.
- Smart, context-aware tool loading. Unlike traditional MCP servers that dump every available tool into the LLM context window, Composio searches for and loads only the tools relevant to the task at hand.
- Cross-app automation. Chain actions across multiple apps in a single run - fetch a thread, summarize it in Notion, and post highlights to Slack without leaving the conversation.

## Connect AnyAPI to ChatGPT

### Prerequisites
- A ChatGPT account. We will use the [ChatGPT desktop app](https://openai.com/chatgpt/download/), and the steps are the same on the web.
- Access to the AnyAPI workspace you want to connect.
- [Composio plugin](https://dashboard.composio.dev/login?utm_source=toolkits&utm_medium=framework_template&utm_campaign=chatgpt&utm_content=composio_connect&next=%2F~%2Forg%2Fconnect%2Fclients%2Fchatgpt).
Note: Composio connects through OAuth. You will be asked to sign in and approve specific permissions. Review the permission screen carefully if you are using a work account.
### Step-by-step: Connect AnyAPI to ChatGPT
### 1. Install the Composio plugin
Click the button. ChatGPT opens the Composio plugin page. Click Install plugin.
[Install in ChatGPT](https://chatgpt.com/plugins/plugin_asdk_app_6a58503580c08191b78cc5bdaf4eba6e)
You can also find it inside ChatGPT: go to Settings, open Plugins, search the marketplace for Composio, and click Install plugin.
### 2. Authenticate
After you install, ChatGPT asks you to authenticate with Composio. Log in and click Allow access to authorize ChatGPT to use your Composio account.
### 3. Start using Composio
That is it. Composio tools are now available in ChatGPT. Type @Composio followed by your request, for example @Composio find unread AnyAPI messages and summarize them, and it will run the actions you authorize. On first use it asks you to authorize AnyAPI.
### Option 2: Add Composio as an MCP server
If you cannot use the plugin marketplace, add Composio as a custom MCP server instead.
### 1. Open the MCP settings
In ChatGPT, go to Settings and open the Plugins section. Inside the Plugins page, click the MCP tab.
### 2. Add the server
Click Add server. In the Name field enter Composio, for Type select Streamable HTTP, and in the URL field paste the Composio MCP server URL:

```bash
https://connect.composio.dev/mcp
```

## What is the AnyAPI MCP server, and what's possible with it?

The AnyAPI MCP server is an implementation of the Model Context Protocol that connects your AI agent and assistants like Claude, Cursor, etc directly to your AnyAPI account. It provides structured and secure access to utility APIs for validation, currency conversion, holiday lookup, document generation, spreadsheet data, and web data, so your agent can validate information, convert currencies, check holidays, create invoices, and manage Google Sheets rows on your behalf.
- Validation and verification: Have your agent validate email addresses, phone numbers, IBANs, and VAT numbers, or find phone numbers in text with parsed details.
- Currency, tax, and holiday tools: Direct your agent to convert currencies, list exchange rates, calculate VAT, retrieve VAT rates, and check or list holidays by country and year.
- Invoice and document generation: Instruct your agent to generate a downloadable PDF invoice with seller, customer, tax, payment, locale, and line item details.
- Google Sheets management: Let the agent inspect spreadsheet documents, retrieve rows from a tab, append new rows, or delete existing rows.
- Text and location utilities: Have your agent analyze sentiment in English, Spanish, or Portuguese text, look up approximate details for an IP address, and report email or phone validation results.

## Supported Tools

| Tool slug | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `ANYAPI_ANALYZE_SENTIMENT` | Analyze Sentiment | Classify the sentiment of English, Spanish, or Portuguese text and return the provider's label, score, language, and tokens. |
| `ANYAPI_CALCULATE_VAT` | Calculate VAT | Calculate the tax-inclusive total and applicable VAT details for a pre-tax amount and country, optionally considering a VAT number and state code. |
| `ANYAPI_CHECK_HOLIDAY` | Check Holiday | Return holidays AnyAPI reports for a calendar date and country; reported holiday dates can differ from the requested date. |
| `ANYAPI_CONVERT_CURRENCY` | Convert Currency | Convert a monetary amount between two currency codes using the latest available exchange rate. |
| `ANYAPI_CREATE_GOOGLE_SHEET_ROW` | Create Google Sheet Row | Append a row to a Google Sheets tab. Before calling this action, link the Google account that can access the spreadsheet inside AnyAPI. |
| `ANYAPI_DELETE_GOOGLE_SHEET_ROW` | Delete Google Sheet Row | Permanently delete an existing row from a Google Sheet tab by its row ID. Before calling this action, link the Google account that can access the spreadsheet inside AnyAPI. |
| `ANYAPI_FIND_PHONE_NUMBERS` | Find Phone Numbers | Find phone numbers in text and return each number's parsed format, validity, type, and character offsets. |
| `ANYAPI_GENERATE_BLOG_OPENGRAPH_IMAGE` | Generate Blog OpenGraph Image | Currently unavailable because AnyAPI's Chromium runtime is failing. Intended to generate a downloadable PNG OpenGraph image for a blog post from its title and author. |
| `ANYAPI_GENERATE_PDF_INVOICE` | Generate PDF Invoice | Generate and return a downloadable PDF invoice using seller, customer, tax, payment, locale, and up to one line item. |
| `ANYAPI_GET_GOOGLE_SHEET_DOCUMENT` | Get Google Sheet Document | Return a Google Sheets document's title, locale, and sheet-tab titles. Requires the AnyAPI account to have a Google account linked inside AnyAPI. |
| `ANYAPI_GET_GOOGLE_SHEET_ROWS` | Get Google Sheet Rows | Get the JSON payload for one Google Sheets tab as an object or array of row objects. ## Frequently Asked Questions

### What are the differences in Tool Router MCP and AnyAPI MCP?

With a standalone AnyAPI MCP server, the agents and LLMs can only access a fixed set of AnyAPI tools tied to that server. However, with the Composio Tool Router, agents can dynamically load tools from AnyAPI and many other apps based on the task at hand, all through a single MCP endpoint.

### Can I use Tool Router MCP with ChatGPT?

Yes, you can. ChatGPT fully supports MCP integration. You get structured tool calling, message history handling, and model orchestration while Tool Router takes care of discovering and serving the right AnyAPI tools.

### Can I manage the permissions and scopes for AnyAPI while using Tool Router?

Yes, absolutely. You can configure which AnyAPI scopes and actions are allowed when connecting your account to Composio. You can also bring your own OAuth credentials or API configuration so you keep full control over what the agent can do.

### How safe is my data with Composio Tool Router?

All sensitive data such as tokens, keys, and configuration is fully encrypted at rest and in transit. Composio is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant and follows strict security practices so your AnyAPI data and credentials are handled as safely as possible.
