# Session

A Composio session is a runtime context that ties a user identity to the tools, authentication configuration, and connected accounts available to an agent.

The session gives an agent a scoped way to discover tools, authorize connections, and execute actions. It can expose tools directly through an AI framework or through an MCP endpoint.

Session lifetime and mutability are implementation details. Composio's current core-concepts guide documents persistent sessions and in-place updates. Do not assume that creating a session means creating a new provider connection or that ending a conversation revokes an OAuth token.
