# Auth config

An auth config is a toolkit's authentication blueprint, defining its authentication method, scopes, and application credentials.

An OAuth auth config describes the OAuth application and requested scopes. Other auth methods, such as API keys, use their own configuration. Composio can use managed authentication or your own OAuth application credentials.

The config is separate from a connected account. Several users can authenticate through the same config, but each user's connection has its own provider credentials. Changing the blueprint is not the same operation as connecting a user.
